About Kirsten
Kirsten Van Horne is a freeride mountain bike athlete from the small town of Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. Fortunate enough to grow up in a community surrounded by mountains, Kirsten always had access to what seemed like endless adventures.
Nelson has a long history when it comes to the birth of freeride mountain biking and there are many great local athletes that have really put it on the map. Although she didn’t start biking until the end of high school, the culture and mentality of the town along with the hundreds of trail options and picture perfect views really led her casual interest of riding bikes into her love for the sport and the progression that comes with it.
Life lately
For the past few years Kirsten has been living in New Zealand, managing a Landscape company during the summers while pursuing competing at Freeride events. Recently competing and placing 3rd at Natural Selection Tour, Bike edition as well as racing at Crankworx and placing first at Whipoff.
As well as Freeride events, Kirsten absolutely loves a good adventure! Big pedal missions and overnight trips are always high on her to do list. Not to mention riding dirt jumps, especially her local, Gorge Road, in Queenstown New Zealand.
Going forward there is plenty that Kirsten is looking forward to with multiple events still to come this summer and a whole lot more planned for next!
