How Anne Terpstra and our girls from the GFRT fought their way through the heavy rain of Munich, and which medal was won, find out here!
Europameisterschaft Mountainbike Cross Country - Munich, Germany
There are only a few breaks for our girls from the GHOST Factory Racing Team. When there is no UCI MTB World Cup, there are European Championships.
Almost exactly 50 years after the last Olympic Games, another major sporting event was about to take place in Munich. Last weekend, the European Championships took place in Munich. The collected European Championships of many Olympic sports. Among other things, also in mountain bike cross country. In the time-honored Olympic Park, a great course was designed, where many spectators could watch from the Olympic Hill. But unfortunately the weather did not play along and our GHOST athletes faced a very slippery track and a strenuous race. The 4.27 km long course had to be completed a total of seven times.
Who was there?
All four girls of our GHOST Factory Racing Team were in the race. Anne Terpstra was considered a co-favorite for the gold medal, riding for the Netherlands. Caroline Bohé started for Denmark together with Nicole Koller for Switzerland and Nadine Rieder for Germany.
How did it go?
Anne was able to hang on to the leaders Loana Lecomte and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (both France) early on and keep the race close before the two Frenchwomen were able to gain too big an advantage on Anne despite a technical defect.
In the end, after a muddy battle in the heavy rain in Munich, Anne Terpstra finished in third place and with it the bronze medal. Caroline Bohé finished in a strong 5th place, the starting field of our GFRT riders was completed by Nadine Rieder in 18th place, closely followed by her Swiss teammate Nicole Koller.
Outlook
Remember to support our GFRT one last time for this year, whether in front of the screen or live at the track, on September 02. On September 02, our girls can win both the team classification and Anne's personal World Cup victory!
