Tomas Slavík fights for third place at Cerro Abajo

Guanajuato City in Mexico is the last stop of the Cerro Abajo series.

Like Valparaíso and Medellin, Guanajuato is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its colonial street network and 16th century house architecture. The city is also located in a valley and the alleys on the slopes are particularly steep and narrow.

The tracks lead right through the colourful towns, narrow alleys, up long and steep stairs and sometimes through buildings. The athletes have to master big drops, wallrides and jumps.

Third place overall in the Cerro Abajo was a hard slog for Tomas. Illness, injuries and crashes were to push our Czech athlete to the limit, but first things first.

Valparaíso, Chile

The omens were already bad for Tomas in advance: he fell in training before the qualification and tore the ligaments in his ankle. The start of the race is on the line.

But Tomas takes the start and rides to his third victory after 2017 and 2018 in Chile with a meiserformance.

Medellin, Colombia

Colombia was a difficult race for Tomas. He was still suffering from his torn ligament, but still went to the start.

He finished the race in sixth place and showed a strong performance despite the difficult conditions.

Guanajuato, Mexico

The omens were bad: With food poisoning in the week before the race, Tomas' training time was limited. Only 13th place was the final result after a heavy fall on a stair section during the race. Fortunately Tomas was able to walk himself off the track.

Next Steps

After the fall, Tomas needs a short rest. But the next step will be in Italy in just under two weeks. The "Mad of Lake" on Lake Garda is the first stop of the European Urban Downhill Series. Tomas will have good memories of this event: last year he won the race. Here you can see the run again.

The 4X Pro Tour World Series and the Crankworx World Series will start in May.

The TractionLink rear triangle responds sensitively to even the smallest bumps, which was a real advantage for the stairs in Chile; especially in combination with the 160 mm steel spring shock from Fox. A 38 mm Fox fork with 170 mm travel is fitted at the front.
